Pay Range

$166,590 - $206,820 Annually

Please note that the pay range information is a general guideline only.

Many factors are taken into consideration when setting starting pay including education, experience, the external labor market, and internal equity.


Job Description:

We have an opening for a Division Superintendent/Infrastructure & Program Technologies Support Section Leader that includes safety officer duties.

The position oversees, through the division group leaders and supervisors the effective management and leadership of a large and diverse workforce consisting of electronics and mechanical technical personnel including supervisors, engineering associates, designers, fabricators, technologists, and coordinators who support multiple programs throughout the Laboratory, such as Global Security, Strategic Deterrence, Environmental Restoration Division, and Security Organization (SO).

Employees support programs at Site 200 (Livermore, Ca), Site 300 (Tracy, Ca.), and the Nevada National Security Site (Nevada). This position requires full-time onsite presence Monday-Friday and is in the National Security Engineering Division (NSED), within the Engineering Directorate

You will


Ensure performance standards and classification levels are consistently applied across the Division with safety and security duties associated with workforce management.

Provide a high level of direction and oversight on personnel actions such as hiring, performance appraisals, ranking and salary administration, promotions, and corrective actions.

Establish and implement succession and workforce planning goals for the technical workforce.

Participate in workforce development including building and maintaining relationships with post-secondary schools, as well as recruiting and mentoring for the technical staff.

Participate in the formulation, interpretation, and implementation of policies and procedures.

Ensure adherence to the Laboratory's Environment Safety & Health (ES&H) regulations, security, business practices, diversity, and personnel policies and procedures.

Perform as assigned the duties of the Section Leader for the new Infrastructure & Program Technologies Support Section and division safety officer.

Perform other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:

This position requires an active Department of Energy (DOE) Q-level clearance or active Top-Secret clearance issued by another U.S. government agency at the time of hire.
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering Technology or related field, or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
Advanced skills and significant experience in electronics and/or mechanical technology or related field.
Significant knowledge of engineering non-exempt and exempt personnel, performance, promotion process, and exempt review criteria.

Significant experience in workforce planning, coaching and mentoring staff members, preparation of performance reviews, ranking, salary management, and hiring activities.

Highly advanced written and verbal communication skills and successful complex problem resolution and negotiating skills necessary to manage personnel issues in positive ways by communicating effectively, defusing conflicts, and overcoming setbacks.

Experience leading safety walkthroughs, reviews, and understanding of the institution's work planning and control process.
Experience interacting with division, department, and program level management.
Experience working as a team member with professional and technical personnel on an independent self-directed basis.

Qualifications We Desire


Experience implementing and managing Engineering Service Center strategic planning including QA, workflow processes, tools and equipment acquisition/repair/maintenance, workforce, and budgetary management.

Experience managing ISO 9001workcenters and familiarity with the engineering services quality policy statement and core quality objectives.
