Description
Database Support/EntryRemotePosition Overview:
This job will support the Strategic Sourcing team in creating and managing a database of vendor contracts. Responsibilities include researching contracts, inputting data (end date, contract category, service summary, annual expenses, duration, etc). Some familiarity with contracts is beneficial, as well as a good grasp of Excel to help streamline report consolidation efficiently when possible.
This role will involve a significant amount of contract research and data entry into the database, so strong attention to detail and ability to sit for extended periods are crucial.
About the Company:
The primary role of a Database Administrator is to deliver database assistance across various hardware, software platforms, and associated devices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Offer database and system support on-site - Monitor, gather statistical data, and generate reports on system capacity and performance - Utilize statistics to propose strategies for maintaining and enhancing system efficiency - Monitor the system and respond to automated alerts regarding system and application issues - Conduct diagnostics, testing, and resolution of software, operating system, and database problems (e.g., rectifying installation, configuration, or data issues) - Plan and execute software installations, configurations, upgrades, and patches - Organize and execute database setups, upkeep, upgrades, and patching procedures - Manage system and database backups - Implement manual switching to backup system/components if primary system fails
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a technical field like computer science, computer engineering, or a related discipline - 2-4 years of relevant experience - Proficiency in delivering technical assistance, encompassing database management and operations involving monitoring, maintenance, capacity, performance planning, incident management, and issue resolution - Sound knowledge of SQL - Familiarity with Help Desk utilities and ticket tracking systems - Understanding of support contracts and associated service levels - Demonstrated capability in producing high-quality technical documentation
