    Job Description

    Avery Dennison is currently seeking a Product Compliance Specialist for our Reflective and Digital Ink Solutions (DIS) businesses, with diverse activities to support operations, customer support, sales, marketing, and product development functions with product-related compliance information, mentorship, and strategies to support customer needs and regulatory requirements. This position will also support the business through a focus on customer/external-facing communications and marketing related to compliance while supporting governance of the compliance-related business processes and data management systems.

    Position duties include but are not limited to:

    • Partner with Marketing and Sales stakeholders on strategic initiatives in Reflective and DIS to leverage compliance to differentiate products and improve competitive edge.
    • Track new product compliance and safety developments and update business to identify new business opportunities.
    • Support and respond to customer inquiries regarding the compliance of Reflective and DIS products with various regulatory or customer product safety or environmental requirements.
    • Communicate with raw material or component suppliers to obtain current compliance data related to Reflective and DIS products.
    • Partner with suppliers and other teammates to develop and maintain a database of compliance and safety information on Reflective and DIS products.
    • Coordinate product safety testing of products as needed to satisfy regulatory requirements or customer needs.
    • Build or update material safety data sheets as required for new and existing products.
    • Seek assistance as needed from corporate product compliance for complex product compliance requests or issues.
    • Participate in new product development processes and provide compliance mentorship to product development teams, while maintaining awareness of activities from project onset to product launch.
    • Maintain and update the new product/R&D dashboard.
    • Implement guidance for Reflective and DIS from corporate product compliance for new product regulatory requirements.
    • Participate on teams and initiatives in support of company goals and objectives.
    • Lead training of internal and external stakeholders on compliance topics as needed.
    • Provide guidance and technical assistance to cross-functional groups such as R&D, product development, marketing, customer service, and procurement regarding compliance issues and initiatives.
    • Exercise the highest degree of discretion when handling all confidential matters.
    • Build and develop processes to increase overall efficiency and ensure improvement in product compliance supporting the businesses.
    • Other duties as assigned to support the team.

    Qualifications

    Required:

    • Bachelor's degree is required, preferably in a technical or scientific field.

    Preferred:

    • 3+ years of experience in compliance is preferred, which can include product compliance or stewardship or EHS or similar experience.
    • Ability to prioritize and complete projects and assignments, exercising frequent independent judgment, initiative, and tact.
    • Knowledge of GHS and SDS hazard classifications
    • Experience in handling highly confidential matters.
    • Willingness to accept increased responsibilities and meet the demands of the business in a mature and professional manner, whether working independently or as part of a team.
    • Proficiency of applicable computer systems, such as Google, internet, and learning function-specific software (MFGPro, product integrity management system, etc.)
    • Proficient written and verbal communication.
    • Excellent customer service skills and able to work across different cultures.
    • Excellent time-management, organizational and project management skills.
    • Strong analytical skills.
    • Accurate typing, spelling and grammar skills.
    • Functional ("dotted line") reporting to Director, Product Compliance
