The Team:
You will be an important member of a team based in New York, San Francisco, Toronto and Denver.

The team is dedicated to project financings, focusing on a wide range of infrastructure assets including toll roads, managed lanes, airports, social accommodation and contracted single-asset power.

You will work closely with a number of highly experienced industry specialists, not only on our team but across other teams in the Americas that rate project financings that are often structured as public private partnerships.

You will report to the manager based in San Francisco and have day to day responsibility to coach, mentor and manage a small group of analysts that cover a subset of our team's portfolio.

Project finance experience is a critical pre-requisite. In addition to this professional background is the personal and cultural fit.

To succeed, you must be comfortable with quantitative analysis, modeling and financial forecasting and have a knack for problem solving.

High attention to detail is also critical as is experience in reviewing and analyzing standard project finance documents including term sheets, concession agreements, independent engineering reports and market studies.


Responsibilities:

As a Lead Analyst you will establish and maintain relationships with debt issuers, intermediaries, and investors.

Your ability to confidently and knowledgably respond to analytic questions, as well as to credibly and consistently represent S&P in management meetings in industry outreach and the media will have a significant impact on the organization as a whole.


More specifically, you will:
Act as primary analyst for around a dozen credits
Provide supervision on a broad portfolio of credits, ensuring a consistently high level of analytic quality
Review, critique, and provide analytic feedback on analysis and publishing performed by analysts on your team
Supervise the relationship with issuers in the portfolio
As a lead analyst support your sub-team by example - championing ratings quality and consistency.

Provide financial modeling due diligence and forecasting necessary to create an independent, S&P financial forecast for existing and new issuers.

In coordination with your manager, communicate S&P thought leadership and credit themes via publications, speeches, conference presentations, and media interviews

Provide analytical training and coaching


Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree holder of Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Mathematics or similar
Solid experience (7 to 10 years) within a large commercial bank, investment bank, investing institution/asset manager, rating agency, or an audit company working in the field of financial analysis, preferably in credit
Strong analytical skills with a detailed understanding of financial statement analysis and accounting concepts
Proficiency/familiarity in reading typical project finance legal documents.
Deep understanding of the power, utilities and infrastructure asset classes
Proficiency with financial models, credit metric calculations and the ability to maintain accuracy and be detail oriented while complying
