Description

• Serve the needs of the campus-based ministry/ church community/worship services with the heart of Christ, to the Glory of God (Romans 12:1-13)
• Develop and maintain a spiritual and faith-based relationship with residential mentees founded on trust, caring and unconditional forgiveness which are directed towards each individuals' strengths and needs.
• Be a role model and encourage personal skills and character habits which will development relevance to living a Biblical life-style.
• Meet with small groups as needed and provided biblical/spiritual/practical encouragement.
• Attend and participate in all scheduled ministry/leadership trainings, as well as work related trainings and events as mandated by YFT.
• Assist mentees in problem solving while providing creative outlets to inculcate spiritual growth and awareness in their personal lives; periodically apprise mentees therapist of the mentees progress;
• Report emergency and high-risk situations to Campus Pastor who will in turn apprise a member of YFT Executive Management Team;
• Good verbal skills are desired;
• All duties and responsibilities will support meeting the structured program of care outlined in DBHDS and DSS state standards (DBHDS: 12VAC 35-46; DSS: 22 VAC 40-151; 22 VAC and the Office of Human Rights according to standard 22 VAC
• Must attend all trainings mandated by YFT; must receive and pass Handle With Care and required training before volunteer may be alone with a resident;

Qualifications

Profession of Faith that Jesus is Lord and Savior of All (Romans 10:9)

•Possess a heart to serve sacrificially with humility

•A high school diploma with 2-3 years relevant experience.

•Ability to communicate with children/adolescences openly and nonjudgmentally;

•Ability to establish relationships based on equal responsibility and respect.

•Practical problem-solving skills and ability to suggest options and alternatives, as well as display a high level of sensitivity to persons of different educational, economic, cultural, or racial backgrounds.

•Must pass FBI/CPS background checks, have a current negative TB screening, and must be 21 years of age.

Must be able to maintain compliance with requirements of YFT, our licensing agencies, accreditations and government affiliations.
