PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:


The Seasonal Grounds Assistant is responsible for providing a pleasant outdoor environment by assisting the Grounds/Maintenance Supervisor and the Cemetery Crew Chief, by performing a variety of tasks ensuring that the existing grounds of the Cemetery and Mausoleum are maintained, attractive, orderly, and healthy.

This includes caring for plants and trees, raking and mulching leaves, string trimming, mowing grass regularly, and removing debris from graves.

This position is seasonal and is available mainly in the spring, summer and fall months. Most of the work is done outdoors in all types of weather. The work can be repetitive and physically demanding, requiring frequent bending, kneeling, lifting, and shoveling.


MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Must be 18 years of age.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • Must have a basic knowledge and use of lawn maintenance equipment to include but not limited to string trimmers, rakes, iron rakes, leaf rakes, shovels, lawnmowers including hydrostatic mowers, manual mowers, push mowers, and riding mowers.
  • Must be competent in controlling operations of equipment.
  • Mechanical knowledge and use of machines and tools.
  • Mechanical ability for minimum maintenance of equipment used in cemetery grounds keeping, lawn mowers, trimmers, etc.
  • Requires occasional lifting of 50 lbs. or more and will be exposed to summer weather.

PREFERRED:


  • High School Education.
