DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Reporting to the IM Manager and IM Assistant Manager, this position is responsible for providing day-to-day technical and administrative support to the Interceptor Maintenance Department.

Oversee the operational and functional components of assets throughout the wastewater collection system.

This position requires a practical knowledge of wastewater collection systems to support flow monitoring, structural maintenance and repairs, general construction practices, data collection, report writing and documentation needs for the wastewater collection system facilities.

Responsible for oversite, development, and monitoring of the sewerage collection flow monitoring system. Performs site inspections, oversees vendors and/or NBC staff to support the flow monitoring program. Evaluate flow monitoring data to ensure accuracy and integrity. Provides technical support in flow monitoring equipment and/or technologies available to support the flow monitoring program. Reviews site configuration for flow monitoring reporting purposes. Quantify flow volumes, rates, and capacities for various design considerations.

Support the Interceptor Maintenance Department in operations, maintenance and administrative needs of wastewater collection facilities including pump stations, sewer pipes, catch basins, tide gates, overflow structures, etc.

Conduct system monitoring to support design upgrades and/or modifications.

Monitor the public web-based notification system including alarm formulas, set points, site conditions and other measures to ensure accurate and reliable information is provided to the public.

Review plans, technical documents, and existing conditions of existing and proposed facilities. Recommends procedures / actions to support the proper operations and maintenance of the wastewater collection system. Perform field inspection services on work performed on/near NBC assets to ensure work is performed as approved. Provides accurate, detailed information of inventory and assets to support NBC Asset Management program.

Perform various additional tasks such as inventory control, safety inspections, customer service response, database management, QA/QC on various equipment and instruments, customer service response, preparation of reports and memorandums, professional development, and other related duties as needed.

Performs other duties as assigned, within skill and experience capabilities.


EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:


EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:

Graduation from a two-year technical college program (civil / construction engineering / drafting / mechanical / etc) or equivalent work experience to demonstrate knowledge of related work.

The individual must possess a working knowledge of current Federal, State, and Local regulatory requirements as applied to construction activities and safety procedures for wastewater collection facilities.

The individual must demonstrate a practical knowledge of methods, equipment and techniques used in the installation, repair, and maintenance of wastewater collection facilities.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and ABILITIES:
Practical knowledge of flow monitoring technologies, equipment, configuration, and service. Practical knowledge of combination sanitary/stormwater collection system maintenance and various construction related work practices. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Proficiency in database management and use of GIS software. Voluntary certification in Wastewater Collection System Operator Grade II is desirable.


SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Valid driver's license in good standing is required at time of hire.
