    SR Specialist- Kaizen
    I


    General Summary:
    Develop, design, teach, and implement kaizen (continuous improvement) activities for all production functions within TBWK (Including but not limited to Manufacturing, Production Control, Maintenance/Engineering, and Quality).

    Essential Job Functions:


    A. Update and schedule kaizen activities using advanced software to create charts, graphs and Kaizen reports. (Microsoft Project, Microsoft Excel).

    B. Create/Update Standardized documentation and work with the plant leaders during Jishuken (self study and improvement) activities for assigned areas.

    C. Oversee equipment improvement processes to ensure desired results are achieved. Track quantifiable improvements via KPI impact.

    D. Generate and complete work orders involving equipment improvement activities.

    E.

    Work with Manufacturing, Maintenance and other production functions to improve processes and efficiencies through cycle time reductions, line balancing, and other Kaizen activities.


    F. Develop and update Yamazumi charts for takt time (cycle time) changes and Kaizen improvements.

    G. Perform pre-kaizen activity by gathering data using TPS tools (standardized work documents). Video process, standardized work combination chart, standardized work chart, balance chart, yamazumi, process capacity sheet, etc.

    H.

    Identify, develop, and teach needed education materials for TPS skill improvement for Team Members at all levels in the TBWK organization.

    III.

    Minimum Qualifications/Requirements:

    Education:


    • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering, Mathematics, Philosophy or related field required or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
    Experience:


    • Greater than four (4) years of relevant experience required.
    • Experience in the assessment of training needs and the development of programs to meet those needs preferred.
    • Must have experience working with problem solving teams and training associates.
    Personal/Technical Skills:


    • Understanding of the manufacturing processes and the support services necessary for associates.
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers.
    • Thorough understanding of TPS (Toyota Production System) core principles.
    • Ability to solve problems using TBBP (8-step problem solving method)
    • Ability to recognize and eliminate common forms of muda (waste) associated with production activities.
    • Ability to differentiate value added and non-value added job functions.
    • Familiar with basic TPS documents such as Yamazumi, Combination Chart, Process Capacity, and Standardized Work Sheet.
    • Familiar with basic TPS tools such as Andon and Kanban.
    • Excellent organization skills
    • Understand the organizational structure and terminology
    • Must be knowledgeable of company products, design specifications, quality standards, procedures and equipment.
    • Must be able to work independently with little day to day supervision/direction and deliver desired results
    • Ability to manage timelines and projects (Excellent time management skills)
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Must be familiar with budgets and costing
    • Must be creative and innovative
    • Analytical thinking, judgment and problem solving skills are required
    • Ability to plan, organize, coordinate, and implement projects
    • Close mental concentration and attention to detail are required
    Language Skills:


    • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
    Computer/Software:


    • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel and MS PowerPoint programs required. Intermediate experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Project, Access, and other computer-based applications needed.
    IV.

    Work Environment/Conditions:

    Office: Open Office Environment, moderate noise level.

    Plant: Standard automotive plant environment with moderate noise level. PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) such as safety glasses, steel toe shoes, hearing protection, etc. may be required in engineering, manufacturing, or industrial areas. Personal attire standards may apply.

    Travel: Must be willing to travel up to 15% of the time.

    V.

    Physical Demands:

    While performing the duties of this job, the team member is required to talk, see, and hear.

    The team member must be capable of walking, sitting, and standing and is occasionally required to lift up to 30 pounds.
