- Design structural and bridge projects from preliminary to the final design with opportunities to lead design efforts.
- Assist with routine bridge inspection and structural maintenance inspections.
- Collaborate with the complementary disciplines (roadway, drainage, structural, traffic, public involvement, and environmental) to develop projects such as roadway, bridge, rail, transportation planning, and preliminary design for environmental documents.
- Perform structural calculations, develop plan sheets and details, calculate project cost estimates, and ensure compliance with required design criteria.
- Mentor and develop less experienced engineers or EITs.
- Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
- 4-10 years of civil / transportation design experience.
- Texas PE or ability to obtain within six months.
- Proficient in MicroStation, ProjectWise, OpenRoads, and InRoads/Geopak.
- Experience with BridgeLink(PGSuper), OpenBridge Designer (RC Pier), OpenBridge Modeler, BGS, L Pile.
- Familiar with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications, TxDOT Bridge Design Manual, TxDOT Bridge Detailing Guide, TxDOT Bridge Design Guide.
- Basic skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing.
- The ability to clearly communicate and collaborate with Engineers, Designers, and Clients.
- Willing to mentor younger engineers or EIT's.
- Possess critical thinking skills necessary to plan, conceptualize and anticipate the next steps.
- Capable of recognizing conflicts and discrepancies with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively on a team of engineers, technical experts, and designers, as well as working independently with little supervision.
- TxDOT project experience (another DOT is acceptable) and TxDOT pre-certification is preferred.
- Bridge inspection experience is preferred but not required.
