Job Summary:
The Brake Press Operator performs a wide variety of operations on the brake press to bend, shape, and manipulate parts according to prints.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs a wide variety of press brake operations, including setups using light to medium gauge sheet metal, aluminum, or stainless steel.
- Sets dies and stops as needed and adjusts ram, backstops and other factors as required to produce bends that conform in all aspects to drawing specifications.
- Uses variety of measuring instruments to periodically check and confirm that dimensions and tolerances are met.
- Performs routine maintenance on the press brake.
- Inspects products, evaluating finished pieces for compliance with quality standards and specifications.
- Maintains a clean work area.
- Contributes to efficient company operations by performing other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Basic math skills
- Mechanical aptitude of machinery
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow blueprints
- Able to understand basic use of calipers
- Brake press experience strongly preferred
- Willingness to learn
- Strong attention to detail
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 60 pounds
- Ability to focus on jobs for extended period of time
- Ability to bend, stoop, and lift
- Ability to stand for long periods of time
