The Shipping, Receiving, and Warehouse Supervisor oversees the handling and transportation of all materials from the receiving dock until they reach the stockroom.

The logistics department includes shipping, receiving, returned goods, and international and domestic documentation and transportation.

This role spends significant time communicating with the sales departments and transportation companies to ensure all orders arrive at the customer's location as scheduled and on time.


This position is also critical in developing and implementing process improvements in all internal areas of responsibility, including hiring, training, and motivating employees.

It reports to the Plant Manager and is located in Niles, IL.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive and inspect incoming shipments for damages, defects, or discrepancies
  • Verify the accuracy of shipment contents against purchase orders or invoices
  • Prepare and process shipping documentation, including bills of lading, shipping labels, and customs declarations
  • Coordinate with carriers to schedule pickup and delivery of shipments
  • Ensure proper storage and handling of incoming and outgoing products
  • Monitor inventory levels and report any discrepancies or shortages
  • Maintain accurate records of all incoming and outgoing shipments
  • Communicate with suppliers, customers, and internal departments regarding shipping and receiving issues
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other materialhandling equipment as needed
  • Maintain a clean and organized warehouse, shipping, and receiving area

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Recruit, interview, hire, and train new staff
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations
  • Encourage a positive work atmosphere by maintaining appropriate staffing and training procedures
