***: Under the direction of the Senior Center Director, the Clerk is responsible for performing clerical, administrative and other tasks in support of the Senior Center Operation. This position interfaces with the general public and employees on a regular basis and requires a commitment to the highest quality of customer service.


I ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

_Essential duties may include, but are not limited to the following, other duties may be assigned_

  • Assists the Director with all clerical and administrative tasks on a daily basis
  • Assists the Director with the coordination and serving of daily meals offered
  • Assists the Director with the coordination of special events and programs
  • Assists the Director with the preparation and mailing of the monthly newsletter
  • Assists the Director with the annual filing of State and Federal Grants
  • Assists the Director with the coordination of weekly/monthly State reports
  • Assists the Director with other duties as assigned

II NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:


  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to perform detailoriented tasks and balance a variety of responsibilities
  • Ability to show initiative and accept responsibility
  • Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and work with mínimal supervision
  • Ability to interact with the Senior Center population, general public, legal and business organizations, Town Officials and other staff members
  • Ability to maintain a professional, friendly and positive attitude
  • Ability to be support, understand and care about the senior population, volunteers, coworkers and the Town of Middletown

III MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:


  • Must have a high school diploma or GED
  • Must be able to perform each essential duty and responsibly and satisfactorily
  • Must have knowledge of general office practices and procedures and have prior computer experience
  • Must possess basic mathematical skills
  • Must successfully pass a background check

  • A personal computer, calculator, telephone, fax machine, copier, printer, postage machine and other equipment found in an office setting
