    Roles and Responsibilities:

    CSS is seeking an innovative and creative educator with a broad skill set in science. A successful candidate will be required to teach five sections of middle school science, serve as a middle school advisor, and participate in all Experiential Education Seminars. This position reports directly to the Lower/Middle School Director and will have a variety of responsibilities related to delivering the school program

    The position's preferred qualifications:

    • Bachelor's or advanced degree (preferred) in fields of science or math
    • Knowledge of science curriculum and Next Generation Science Standards
    • Innovative mindset with strong skills in communication, collaboration, project-based learning, and technology The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the Middle School Science Teacher position:

      The Middle School teacher will need to create a positive and vibrant learning environment for students making cross-curricular connections when possible. The preferred candidate will have a strong desire to see their craft improve and evolve. The ideal candidate will possess a growth mindset and share their expertise openly with others.

      The Middle School Science teacher will:

      • Participate in and/or lead experiential education seminars
      • Build positive relationships with faculty, students, and the community by being present at student activities and events
      • Support the school and its leadership
      • Support a differentiated and globally integrated curriculum that includes student engagement through project-based learning, hands-on activities, experimentation and iteration, and other active approaches to learning
      • Take a student-centered approach by providing responsive instruction, including differentiation and flexibility to adjust plans when needed
      • Assess student learning and monitor growth using a variety of methods
      • Stay updated on current science instruction methods and research
      • Collaborate with colleagues and seek feedback in the spirit of continuous improvement.
      • Participate in at least one extracurricular activity, such as sponsorship of clubs, involvement in after-school student activities, or chaperoning of student events
      • Participate constructively and collaboratively in professional development, grade level, and department meetings
      • Maintain a safe, comfortable, and engaging classroom environment.
      • Communicate with parents in an appropriate and timely manner
      • Perform other duties as assigned by the Head of School, Associate Head of School, or Lower School/Middle School Division Director SALARY RANGE:
