Job Summary:


The Junior High Teacher has the primary responsibility for providing high-quality instruction within a small school environment where every student is valued.

PCS teachers must promote a caring and nurturing classroom environment in which all students can learn and grow academically, and spiritually.

In accomplishing this purpose, the teacher will agree to biblical principles and will maintain the highest ethical and professional standards when working with the faculty, staff, parents, students, and community of Pasadena Christian School.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Provides appropriate instruction, including one on one, small group, and whole group.
  • Develops and implements lesson plans and classroom activities that align with PCS academic profile.
  • Involves parents and guardians as partners in their students' education.
  • Responsible for the physical and educational environment of the classroom.
  • Responsible for developing appropriate behavioral management strategies.
  • Administers appropriate educational assessment tools for evaluating students.
  • Participate in department and school meetings and events.
  • Communicates necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Head of School and/or School Principal.

Required Skills/Abilities:


  • Demonstrates loyalty to the school and its mission.
  • Maintains effective communication with parents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor's degree required; with master's degree highly desired.
  • Previous teaching experience highly desired.
  • Association of Christian Schools (ACSI) credential must be obtained after hire and kept current.

Physical, Mental, and Visual Requirements:


  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Able to lift, bend, grasp, reach, and lift to 20 lbs.
  • Able to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Able to maintain confidentiality, work in a busy environment, learn, and retain information.
  • Possesses a genuine commitment to Christian service. Has initiative and creativity, is highly productive, and is flexible.
  • A selfstarter with the ability to work independently with mínimal supervision.
  • Agrees with the school's statement of faith and the purpose and goals of PCS in providing an integrated Christian education.
  • Extended times using a computer monitor and reading documents and correspondence.

Technologies:


  • Proficient in Google Apps., and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)

Compensation:


The annual compensation for this role is
$41,633 to $55,969.
This is a 10-month position paid over a 12-month period.

Compensation may vary based on qualifications, experience, and internal equity.

In addition to salary, PCS offers a generous benefits package including but not limited to medical, dental, and vision benefit plans for eligible employees.
