a General Accountant (Indirect Tax) at our manufacturing facility located in
Elkhart, Indiana_.

Position Summary:


Summary

  • Coordinates sales and use tax and property tax compliance company wide.
  • Essential

Responsibilities:


  • Multistate sales and use tax compliance, which will include reviewing invoices for use tax, tax returns and gathering data across multiple ERP's for monthly compliance requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with state and local sales and use tax laws and regulations.
  • Support operations on sales and use tax questions, including exemption certificate requests.
  • Coordinate property tax requests from third party firm preparing property filings.
  • Maintain and reconcile sales and use and property tax account balances. Prepare journal entries for these accounts during month end close process.
  • Resolve state and local tax notices through written or oral communication.
  • Facilitate sales and use and property tax audits, partnering with third party firm when necessary.
  • Maintain/create financial policies concerning state and local taxes.
  • Maintain financial security by following internal controls. Performs other tasks or duties as assigned

Requirements:


Education and Experience

  • Position requires a bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting for Finance and at least 23 years work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs including Excel.
