Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Coordinates all AHS nursing operations to ensure quality care for patients.
  • Performs professional
- and managerial-level administrative tasks to plan and achieve departmental short-term goals and objectives. Troubleshoots routine and special situations and follows through to resolution.

  • Interviews, selects, trains, or ensures training of AHS nursing staff.
  • Evaluates personnel performance.
  • Initiates performance counseling and disciplinary actions.
  • Provides guidance and support to employees in the performance of their duties.
  • Reviews, recommends, and implements policy and procedure changes in clinic to improve efficiency and enhance customer service. Helps establish and maintain clinical and support service referral networks.
  • Oversees clinical documentation.
  • Ensures compliance with any or all applicable laws, Civil Service Rules, statutes, and regulations. Updates staff on applicable changes. Helps ensure compliance with medical protocols and administrative policies and procedures. Facilitates activities to achieve grant deliverables.
  • Performs direct client assessments and clinical support activities as necessary.
  • Performs all other related duties involved in the operation of the Public Health Department as assigned or required.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN) or higher education.

Four (4) full-time years of nursing experience.


TO APPLY, must have
Three (3) full-time y
ears of supervisory experience, having been responsible for the work output and performance evaluation of subordinates and including
One (
1)
year of nursing supervisory experience**.

TO APPLY, must have a
Current Texas or multistate compact (including Texas) RN license.
TO APPLY, must have
Texas RN license required within ninety (90) days of hire.

MUST PROVIDE LICENSING AGENCY AND LICENSE NUMBER IN "CERTIFICATES AND LICENSING" SECTION OF THE APPLICATION OR BE DISQUALIFIED.
Master's degree in nursing science, health care administration, public administration, business administration, or a related area is preferred.
Clinic management experience and experience working with STDs preferred.
Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal relationship skills.
Knowledge of physical assessment.
Basic understanding of electronic health records and MS Office products.

While performing the duties of this position, the incumbent is regularly required to bend, carry, climb stairs, grasp/squeeze, use hand tools, hear, keyboard, kneel, lift below the waist, lift between waist and shoulder, lift overhead, lift to the side/twist, tolerate noise, pull, push, reach, reach overhead, perform repetitive tasks, see color, see far and near, sit, squat, stand, stoop, talk, twist, use his/her hands, drive a vehicle, walk, and work alone and with others.

Exposure to active infectious diseases and body fluids. Possible needlesticks and restraint of children.

Regular attendance is essential. Incumbent must arrive at work on time, prepared to perform assigned duties and work assigned schedule. Incumbent must have the ability to work well with others.
