Overview:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join our team.

As a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive mental health care to patients.

MINIMUM REQUIRMENTS:


  • Certified as a Registered Nurse (RN) by passing the NCLEX-RN exam
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program with a specialization in psychiatricmental health nursing.
  • Certified as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) with a specialization in psychiatricmental health.
  • Must be certified as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) by passing the certification exam offered by organizations such as the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) or the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP).
  • Must possess a Controlled Dangerous Substances (CDS) license through the Maryland Board of Nursing. This license allows you to prescribe controlled substances in Maryland.
  • Must possess Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration, permitting you to prescribe controlled substances at the federal level.

Duties:


Assessment and Diagnosis:
Conducting thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments to diagnose mental health disorders.

Medication Management:
Prescribing and managing psychiatric medications, including psychotropic drugs, antidepressants, mood stabilizers, anxiolytics, and antipsychotics.

Psychotherapy:

Providing various forms of psychotherapy, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), interpersonal therapy, and supportive therapy.


  • Collaborative Care Collaborating with other members of the healthcare team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, primary care providers, and psychiatric nurses, to coordinate comprehensive care for patients with mental health needs.

Patient Education:

Educating patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, medication adherence, coping skills, and relapse prevention strategies.


Documentation and Record-Keeping:

Maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records, including assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, medication orders, and communications with other healthcare providers.

Clinical Supervision:_

  • Provide clinical supervision and oversight to PMHNP ensuring adherence to best practices, ethical standards, and evidencebased interventions in psychiatric care.
  • Offer guidance on complex cases, treatment planning, and medication management, assisting PMHNP in navigating challenging clinical scenarios.

Education and Training:_

  • Facilitate ongoing education and training sessions for PMHNPs, covering topics such as psychiatric assessment, diagnostic criteria, pharmacology, psychotherapy techniques, and crisis intervention.
  • Stay updated on the latest research, guidelines, and advancements in psychiatric and mental health care, sharing relevant information with mentees.

  • Support the professional growth of PMHNPs by assisting in the development of individualized career plans and goals.
  • Provide constructive feedback on clinical skills, communication, leadership abilities, and professional conduct, helping PMHNPs enhance their competencies and confidence.

  • Connect PMHNPs with relevant resources, including educational materials, professional organizations, conferences, and networking opportunities.
  • Foster connections within the mental health community, facilitating mentorship relationships and peer support networks for PMHNPs.
