Summary:
The Manufacturing Sanitation Technician is responsible for the cleaning process of various equipment, production rooms, and the facility. This position includes routine quarterly and annual cleaning of the facility.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Complies and ensures all manufacturing areas are cleaned and ready for use per SOP guidelines.
  • Cleans and organizes common area. Removes trash from receptacles.
  • Uses required personal protective equipment (i.e. safety gloves, safety aprons, face shield) during cleaning and manufacturing processes.
  • Uses the appropriate ancillary equipment (safety ladder and/or scissor lift) during cleaning process observing safety policies.
  • Follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) including use of required gowning supplies (lab coats, gloves, hair covers, face mask).
  • Maintains a safe and clean work environment throughout the plant, according to GMP and Safety Guidelines. Promotes and adheres to all plant safety, GMP and product safety policies and procedures.
  • Prepares areas to be cleaned by safely setting up cleaning equipment and organizing supplies.
  • Routinely stocks gowning supplies and prepares cleaning solutions as needed.
  • Follows Good Documentation Practices (GDPs) to ensure that cleaning documentation is legible, accurate and timely. This includes verification of cleaning solutions and accurate times recorded for timed activities.
  • Prioritizes the changeover and preparation of rooms for next the production run.
  • Maintains facility in an audit and tour ready condition at all times.
  • Employee is aware of and follows time keeping and rest period policies. Employee files for time off in timely manner as described in associated policies.
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned or as needed.

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or six months to oneyear packaging experience desired; or equivalent combination of experience, training, and/or education.
  • Experience in a pharmaceutical or food cGMP compliant work environment preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Able to work in high areas, train on ladder safety, scissor lift and pass Qualification for Operation.
  • Ability to support in other areas of manufacturing to achieve the company goals.
  • Must be able to stand for extended periods of time while operating machines or cleaning parts.
  • Full range of motion with arms to clean ceilings and walls.
  • Neat and legible handwriting.
  • Must be able to concentrate in a busy environment and be detailoriented in order to maintain a high level of quality.
  • Safely handle cleaning solutions and other chemicals.
  • Maintains general work areas clean and organized. Adheres to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) while using proper gowning procedures.
  • Ability to produce legible handwriting on documents while following Good Documentation Practices (GDPs).
  • Maintain a safe work environment and follow safety policies/best practices.
  • Ability to follow specific verbal directions from department personnel and supervision.
  • Ability to adhere to attendance and timekeeping policies.
  • Ability to read and perform basic math calculations. Working knowledge of metric system, scale procedures and liquid measure procedures.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to observe details at close range (within a foot of the observer).

Constantly operates, uses, prepares, inspects, places, detects and positions manufacturing equipment and other office machinery. Employee is consistently required to remain in a stationary position for up to 75% of the time. Employee will need to constantly position self to operate manufacturing equipment and other office machinery. Regularly transports and positions items up to 55 lbs. (25 kg) and occasionally transports and positions items up to 200 lbs. (91 kg) assisted by
