Description

The mission of The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is to eliminate cancer in Texas, the nation, and the world through outstanding programs that integrate patient care, research and prevention, and through education for undergraduate and graduate students, trainees, professionals, employees and the public.

MD Anderson Gift Shops use their understanding of the unique needs of customers within a comprehensive cancer center environment to deliver quality customer service.

Staff professionalism, combined with merchandising knowledge, allows our retail operation to keep in step with the fast-paced apparel, gifts, and accessories market.

The MD Anderson Gift Shops, however, are more than a retail environment - they are an extension of MD Anderson's commitment to our patients and caregivers.

Each day, Supervisors, Gift Shop [Supervisors] lead our professional retail staff in providing exceptional service, demonstrating their commitment to inclusivity and collegiality, practicing active listening and respectful communication, as well as providing customized solutions to patient and caregiver requests and inquiries.

The Supervisor oversees the daily operations of the shop, planning and delegating the daily tasks of the gift shop staff; keeping the shop and merchandise in an attractive, clean, orderly fashion; guaranteeing an exceptional customer service experience; overseeing the data entry of shop orders; and ensuring financial transactions are handled according to gift shop policies and procedures.

The Supervisor, Gift Shop, develops store strategies to improve the customer experience, expand store traffic and optimize profitability.

Responsible for training, motivating, mentoring, and providing feedback to store staff, the Supervisor is expected to serve as both a mentor and coach to those they supervise.
