The region of Linz, with its approximately inhabitants, is a scenic area with a high quality of life and leisure opportunities, as well as an innovative economic and growth area between the metropolitan region of Cologne/Bonn and the major center of Koblenz/Neuwied.

The city of Linz am Rhein - in cooperation with the association community of Linz am Rhein - was selected in 2021 as one of 28 "model projects Smart Cities" as part of the third round of a funding program by the Federal Ministry of the Interior (BMI).

With the help of a strategic, participatory, and integrated approach, locally adapted action options are to be developed. For the region, this project offers the opportunity to shape it digitally, sustainably, and future-oriented.

The project includes the fields of participation, citizen services, mobility, healthcare, revitalization of the city center, climate adaptation and protection, as well as smart infrastructure.

After an extensive participation and analysis process, a strategy for the Smart Region Linz was developed in 2023. It forms the basis for the implementation of projects in the coming years.

For this challenging task, a project team of five dedicated, creative, and future-oriented employees will be formed. Become a designer of this process and actively drive the digitalization and livable development of the Linz region.
