"The German Railway is one of the most diverse employers in Germany. Every year, we are looking for over 5,000 apprentices in 50 different professions who want to grow and improve with us.

Starting on September 1st, 2024, we are looking for you to join our 3.5-year apprenticeship program as a mechatronics technician (m/f/d) at DB Cargo AG in Bebra. The vocational school training will take place at Max-Eyth-Schule in Kassel, and our training workshop is also located in Kassel. You will receive free company travel tickets for your commute and, if needed, a student ticket for Hesse. Additionally, some training content will also be provided digitally. During and after your apprenticeship, you will work fixed hours (during the day) from Monday to Friday.
What to expect in your workshop apprenticeship
  • You will become a specialist in maintaining our complex diesel locomotives (switching locomotives)
  • You will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and upkeep of electrical, mechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic controls in our vehicles - including safety and monitoring systems, air pressure components, and brake pads
  • You will learn how to diagnose and troubleshoot errors and malfunctions
  • You will acquire the knowledge to expertly fix any issues
