- Be skilled in the operation of SUE utility locating and designating equipment, including pipe and cable locators, Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR), and non-destructive air-vacuum excavation
- Complete detailed accurate daily field reports, associated forms and field sketches, both electronically as well as draft by hand
- Use of tools and equipment to conduct subsurface utility investigations, including jackhammer, pogo-tamper, concrete saw, compressor blower, vacuum hose, air lance, and hand tools
- Drive commercial motor vehicles, however a CDL license is not required
- Perform safety set-up and maintenance of traffic operations under direct supervision of senior field staff
- Assist with survey and data collection tasks, supporting overall crew activities
- Perform daily routine maintenance of equipment
- Perform daily basic vehicle maintenance
- High School Diploma/GED
- 4+ years of experience in the utility locating industry or as a SUE Field Tech
- Ability to read and interpret utility company prints and design plans
- Valid driver's license with good driving record
- Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, including drug testing (U.S. only)
- Ability to obtain a DOT medical card for CMV operation (U.S. only)
- Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical movements necessary to operate heavy tools and equipment
- Ability to work outdoors in all climates
- Willingness to travel up to 50% of the time, by company vehicle or commercial airline, up to 2 weeks continuous stay.
- Work nights and weekends when required to do so
- Must have a good oral and written communication skills and attention to detail
- OSHA Safety certifications are a plus
