DESCRIPTION OF WORK


A Drug & Alcohol Prevention Specialist serves as a key player in our community and our schools by implementing and developing programs during the ten-month school year that will educate and prevent alcohol and drug addiction.

This position delivers evidence-based drug and alcohol prevention programming to students at all levels from kindergarten through twelfth grade.

You will have the opportunity to establish lesson plan guidelines for teachers and augment existing materials to meet requirements of school personnel.

This includes playing an active role in conducting trainings for teachers, parents, service-providers, and the community at large.


Work Schedule and Additional Information:


  • Fulltime, seasonal, recurring employment. 10 months per year.
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday
  • Friday, with a 30minute lunch. Hours vary based on school district scheduled hours and include evenings.
  • This position requires travel both inside and out of Wayne County.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS:


Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:


  • One year as a Drug and Alcohol Prevention Specialist Trainee;
    or:
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Health Education, Education, the Social or Behavioral Sciences or related fields and one year experience in drug and alcohol prevention work;
    or:
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:


  • You must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:


  • You must pass a background investigation.
  • A conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Child Protective Services Law.
  • Under the Law, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
