Job Overview - Accounting Principal

The Chicago Metropolitan Agency for Planning (CMAP) is seeking an experienced accounting professional to serve in the position of accounting principal.

CMAP is a mission-driven agency serving the 284 municipalities and 7 counties of northeastern Illinois as the region's comprehensive planning organization.

The agency has undergone an exciting chapter of growth and currently has an annual operating budget of over $43 million and approximately 125 total staff.

Agency support includes a portfolio of federal, state and philanthropic funding.

Oversight of the agency's diversified portfolio of federal, state, and philanthropic funding; including support from the U.S. Department of Transportation, Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois Environmental Protection Agency, MacArthur Foundation, Chicago Community Trust, among other funders.
Lead efficient, effective, and compliant financial services to increase the regional impact of CMAP by being a good steward of public funds.
Maintain uptodate knowledge of compliance laws, regulations, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), CMAP policies and procedures, etc.
Manage all internal and external audit activity (i.e., Single Audit).

Experience Required:
Bachelor's degree (in field or related field), 7 years professional experience, master's degree preferred.

Hiring Range for Principal:
$97,039 - $123,725
