In the mechanical engineering program with a focus on design and development, students receive fundamental skills in the technical field during the theory phase at DHBW Karlsruhe, supplemented by specialized knowledge in the area of design/development.

Mathematics, technical mechanics, elasticity, strength and construction theory, as well as materials science, material testing, and thermodynamics are important components of the basic studies. In addition, business and non-technical content are also part of the theory phase. During the practical phase, students gain insights into various areas and go through different stations in the fields of design, development, and project planning, which contribute to deepening the theoretical content.
