ANTICIPATED SALARY:
$20-$22 per hour

PRIMARY PURPOSE/GENERAL DESCRIPTION


This position reports to the Assistant Director for the School of Arts and Humanities and will assist in all areas of operation within the School of Arts & Humanities.


DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Provide direct support for a variety of functions, including but not limited to the following:

  • School of Arts & Humanities events, with direction from the SAH Events Coordinator
  • Provide hands on support for events. Typical tasks may include making coffee, preparing food platters, setting up tables and chairs and decorating, etc
  • Update and maintain SAH events calendar and submit events for listing in other appropriate places
  • Create flyers for events as needed
  • Kingsley & Kate Tufts Poetry Awards, with direction from the Tufts Director or SAH Events Coordinator
  • Assist with filing, mailing and shipping associated with the annual awards cycle
  • Communicate clearly and appropriately with award winners, Tufts supporters and the literary public .With direction, work to create and/or submit annual advertisement to appropriate publications/sites
  • Accounts payable, with limited direction from variety of other SAH staff
Communications, with limited direction and input from variety of other SAH staff- Create weekly newsletter- Regularly post to SAH social media sites- Maintain SAH website pages

  • Office operations, with direction from the SAH Administrative Specialist
  • Assist with clerical needs, i.e. filing, greeting visitors, answering phones
  • Assist in communicating with facilities and creating room reservations
  • Assist in creation and distribution of event flyers and announcements
  • Work cooperatively as a member of the CGU School of Arts and Humanities staff team. Assist others as requested or assigned.
  • Assist with events both on and off campus
  • Accept other duties as assigned and approved by the Assistant Director, Director and/or Dean for School of Arts and Humanities.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS,


ABILITIES:

Individual must possess knowledge, skills and ability to be able to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.- Knowledge of Microsoft Word for Windows, Excel, Outlook, and ability to learn additional programs, including basic flyer creation and/or web-page production.- Excellent oral and written communication and customer relations skills.- Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people, including faculty, staff, graduate students, potential donors, and Tufts Committee Members.- Excellent organizational skills in a multi-task environment.- Excellent record keeping skills.- Professional demeanor and dress, communication style, and outgoing, confident professional image.- Exercise judgment, tact, and discretion in the performance of a broad range of tasks.

- Must be able to lift 20-25 lbs


QUALIFICATION STANDARDS:

EDUCATION:
High School diploma plus two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


EXPERIENCE:
At least two years of related experience required. Excellent customer service experience required.

LICENSES /


CERTIFICATES:
Must possess a valid California Driver's license and meet CGU's authorized driver's requirements.


OTHER PREFERENCES:
Experience in event support desired


UNIFORM REQUIREMENT:
May wear CGU logo shirts for special events.


HOURS:
37.5 hours per week (typically 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday - Friday).

_Hours and days will vary due to scheduling of events on evenings or weekends and/or to meet the needs of the University, School, or department.

CLASSIFICATION AND STATUS:
This is a full-time non-exempt, benefits eligible position.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:
none.


REPORTS TO:
Assistant Director for the School of Arts and Humanities.


OTHER:
May be expected to do some lifting and extensive walking for events (e.g., set-up/break-down of events; tours). Some tasks may be performed off-campus (Tufts meetings and ceremony; university sponsored meetings).
