Position Overview

A Camp Business Manager oversees the operations of the camp Trading Post and office.

They are responsible for keeping inventory of stock, managing camp financial documents, supervising sales, ordering new stock, and maintaining accurate records.


Today's summer camp staff are a diverse group of men and women sharing a dynamic career offering independence, achievement, and stability.

This is a seasonal position (mid-June to the end of July).


Responsibilities

  • Oversee all operations of the trading post and camp office.
  • Place and track all orders for trading post, program, and maintenance supplies.
  • Verify the accuracy of trading post inventories and register reports.
  • Prepare and distribute all precamp orders.
  • Manage the administrative elements of the checkin process.
  • Prepare and submit USDA milk reports.
  • Make daily bank deposits.
  • Maintain the petty cash account.
  • Coordinate with the program director to establish a night clerk schedule.
  • Monitor the working and living conditions of camp support staff.
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and hygiene.
  • Attend all meals and campwide activities unless excused by the Camp Director.
  • Communicate with unit leaders, Scouts, visitors, and staff.
  • Train, supervise, evaluate, and counsel the camp support staff in the execution of their duties.
  • Assist in camp staff training and staff orientation.
  • Obey and enforce all applicable policies, practices, and procedures approved by the New Birth of Freedom Council and the Boy Scouts of America.
  • Know, understand, and implement emergency action plans when needed.
  • Relay any issues that could impact the safe and successful operation of the camp to the camp director immediately.
  • Exemplify all aspects of the Scout Oath and Law and serve as a role model for staff and Scouts.
  • Complete all other duties as assigned by the Camp Director.

Desired Skills

  • High moral character.
  • Working knowledge of Scouting
  • Familiarity with Camp Tuckahoe facilities and traditions.
  • Experience in accounting, customer service, and management.
  • Auditory and oral abilities to effectively communicate.

Requirements:


  • Must be willing to accept and meet the Boy Scouts of America's leadership and membership standards and subscribe to the Scout Oath and Law.
  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Auditory and oral abilities to effectively communicate.
  • The ability of sight, Medical approval by a physician to work.
  • Physical ability to walk and lift 40 Lbs.
  • Physical ability to participate in and instruct outdoor skills.
  • The ability to see and hear

Compensation


The New Birth of Freedom Council, Boy Scouts of America offers a competitive salary starting at $525/week, onsite housing, and meals.
