    Job Title: Environmental Management Office (EMO) Cultural Resources Manager / Archaeologist (CRM-A)

    The Environmental Management Office (EMO) Cultural Resources Manager/Archaeologist (CRM-A) will work under the supervision of the Senior Cultural Resources Manager (SCRM) in compliance with the legal requirements defined in the U.S. Secretary of the Interior standards for Cultural Resource (CR) Positions and the Arizona Antiquities Act. As the Cultural Resources Project Director (PD), the CRM-A will be the federal representative on all National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA) Section 106 and Section 110 consultation requirements with the State Historic Preservation Officer (SHPO) and 23 federally recognized tribes in Arizona.

    Job Duties:

    • Provide risk assessments for cultural/archaeological resources and develop strategies to ensure compliance.
    • Oversee application of historic preservation laws and standards, including NEPA integration.
    • Manage budgets related to cultural/archaeological resources and participate in planning program budgets.
    • Collaborate with stakeholders, oversee consultation efforts, and coordinate cultural resource projects.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

    • Professional knowledge of cultural resource conservation, federal laws, and project management.
    • Competency in NEPA, NHPA, and tribal consultation.
    • Field experience in archaeological survey and artifact identification.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Organizational, time management, and analytical skills.
    • Proficiency in various computer software and grant writing.

    Ability to:

    • Align program components with organizational needs while ensuring legal compliance.
    • Perform effectively in high-pressure situations and lead daily operations.
    • Identify and implement new technologies and processes.
    • Conduct training and evaluate technical cultural data.
    • Work collaboratively and travel as needed.

    Selective Preference(s):
    Desired qualifications include a Master's degree in Anthropology/Archaeology with relevant work experience and familiarity with NEPA planning. Candidates should also meet the AZ Antiquities Act requirements.

    Pre-Employment Requirements:

    • Possession of a valid driver's license and ability to travel within the state.
    • Minimum BS in Archaeology/Anthropology or related field.
    • Ability to be listed on Register of Professional Archaeologists (RPA).
    • Completion of criminal background investigation and obtain a Common Access Card (CAC).
