    MAJOR DUTIES:
    Complete psychosocial assessments and diagnostic interviews to assess the full range of mental health conditions and diagnoses.
    Use social work clinical training, insight, and experience to interpret data to identify treatment options.

    Implement treatment modalities, provide skill-based and evidenced-based psychotherapies in group and individual therapy for veterans and their families in the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) team, and as needed.

    Serve veterans who tend to have serious frequent and severe crises, lack family or adequate community support network, be poor at self-monitoring, frequently fail to comply with instructions and treatment and have significant deficits in coping skills and require continuing professional psychological support.

    Use medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities, and treatment procedures, including acute, chronic trauma and PTSD, Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, anxiety and adjustment disorders, personality disorders, psychotic spectrum disorders, etc.

    as well as common medications and their effects/side effects, and medical terminology.

    Be an active member of the BHIP team who contributes to program development, consultation, and treatment planning within an interdisciplinary treatment team.

    Establish and maintain effective therapeutic relationships with veterans served by the BHIP team and Community Based Outpatient Clinics.
    Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing with people from varied backgrounds.

    Serve as a liaison and consultant for veterans and their families regarding community resources, VA benefits, VA specialty programs, and advanced directives.

    Enter all veteran/family contacts in the electronic record using appropriate formats and templates.
    Provide case management services to veterans and their families throughout the continuum of care.

    Pay:


    Competitive salary and regular salary increases When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of existing pay, higher or unique qualifications, or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).


    Paid Time Off:
    37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)


    Parental Leave:


    After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.


    Child Care Subsidy:


    After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.
