Scope of Responsibility:

The Quality Supervisor reports to the Quality Manager, manages the quality inspectors, plans, coordinates, foster Safety first, and Sabre Galvanizing Quality Management System to ensure that products meet the established standards, unique customer requirements, and production goals.

Acts as the Liaison between those requirements and internal or external customers.


Essential Duties:


  • Work with production personnel and plant management.
  • Plans and monitors the flow of work through Quality Assurance and the QAQC Lab.
  • Maintains inspection data and documentation of defects, interacts with other departments to ensure compliance with specification and to facilitate the acceptance of parts/product.
  • Assist ongoing quality improvement initiatives including but not limited to developing and implementing new or revised processes.
  • Continuously monitors progress on daily work schedules to assure that satisfactory progress is being made.
  • Maintains files and records of employee attendance and performance. Provides daily reports of time and attendance for payroll purposes.
  • Based on personal observation and existing reporting systems, evaluates performance of all employees in terms of safety, quality, productivity, and attendance. Initiates training and/or corrective action to correct deficiencies.
  • Communicates regularly with the other department supervisors in person and by telephone. Attends meetings to exchange information with other supervisors, managers, and other employees. Conducts meetings within his/her department and shift to communicate with subordinates in a group setting.
  • Communicates oneonone with subordinates to keep them informed of their progress and/or opportunities for improvement.
  • The incumbent must be able to foster harmonious relations within his/her own shift and between shifts. The incumbent is accountable for safety, quality, exercising cost control, the proper uses of direct and indirect labor, accurate recordkeeping, and reporting, minimizing scrap and rework costs, training new and existing personnel and communicating with other supervisory and management personnel as well as subordinates.
  • The incumbent must have a thorough knowledge and awareness of the safety issues related to each operation performed within the department and must assure that all employees always adhere to safe practices. The incumbent must have a thorough understanding of the process of ongoing improvement as it relates to the management philosophy of Sabre Industries.
  • Regular and ontime attendance.

Education:


  • Twoyear associate degree and/or 3 years manufacturing experience preferred. (previous work
- related history).

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to do basic math: addition, subtraction, multiplication & division, with both fractions and decimals required.
  • Coating inspection certification preferred but not required. (NACE, ASTM, SSPC, AMPP, etc.)

Experience:


  • Basic understanding of procedures pertaining to Scheduling, Purchasing and Inventory Control preferred.
  • Prior QAQC experience highly preferred.
  • Prior Galvanizing experience highly preferred.
  • Prior leadership experience in a manufacturing facility highly preferred.

Skills & Abilities:


  • Regular and timely attendance is required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with frequent interruptions in workflow and constantly changing priorities.
  • Must be a good leader with effective interpersonal, communications and organizational skills. Able to function independently and work in a team environment.

  • Must work with minimum to no supervision and with all levels of employees, supervisors, and managers.

Physical Requirements:


  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving entire body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, bending, twisting, and handling of materials.
  • Must be able to work in an outside manufacturing environment for long shifts, including weekends.
  • Position requires manual dexterity, armhand steadiness, and a safetyminded individual.
