    At Uncommon Schools, the Dean of Students (DOS) collaborates with the Principal and Director of Operations to establish a school environment where students actively participate in academics and are eager to attend school.

    Our schools foster a setting where students take pleasure in learning and interact respectfully with their peers, educators, and local community.

    Our Deans cultivate strong connections and a favorable school atmosphere to ensure that all students embody the school's principles and remain dedicated to their path to and through college.

    The Dean will also spearhead projects related to school culture, our focus on college readiness, culturally sensitive teaching, and involvement of students and families.


    As Dean of Students:


    You will collaborate closely with the Principal and Director of Operations to establish a positive, goal-oriented, and culturally sensitive school environment.

    You will exhibit expertise in our teaching approach to exemplify effective behavior management strategies for educators.

    You will assist educators in empowering students to achieve their maximum academic and personal capabilities.

    You will handle behavioral crises and serious behavioral incidents and implement the school-wide behavior strategy utilizing culturally sensitive methods.

    You will work together with educators, students, and families to devise and carry out personalized behavior strategies.


    You will oversee the systems that bolster school endeavors leading to academic triumph for our students (e.g., attendance procedures, homework structures).


    You will be notably present and visible throughout school hours, consistently ensuring an inclusive and cheerful school environment.

    You will exemplify the school's principles and the benchmark for academic and personal achievement.
