The Plumbing Service Technician is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining pipes, fixtures, and other plumbing used for water distribution and wastewater disposal.
Performs a variety of services ranging from faucet repairs to water heater installations and plumbing systems replacements for residential customers while maintaining the highest level of customer service.
Essential Job Functions:
- Install, repair, and maintain plumbing systems and fixtures.
- Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the layout of plumbing systems, water supply networks, and waste and drainage systems.
- Plan, install, and service plumbing systems, fixtures, piping equipment, and controls. These piping systems may be used to transport water, waste, gases, or hot liquids.
- Provide excellent customer service to residential customers by educating them on plumbing services recommended in their homes if a foreseeable and/or hazardous condition is detected.
- Identify required tools and special equipment
- Select the type and size of pipe required
- Locate and mark positions for connections and fixtures
- Install supports and hangers for pipe, fixtures, and equipment
- Assemble and install valves and fittings
- Install, repair, and maintain water treatment equipment, piping, and controls
- Install, repair, and maintain underground storm sanitary and water piping systems
- Install, repair, and maintain sinks, tubs, and toilets
- Install, repair, and maintain water heaters and conditioners
- Install, repair, and maintain plumbing fixtures, appliances, and trim
- Test pipe systems and fixtures for leaks
- Perform scheduled maintenance service on plumbing systems and fixtures
- Ensure all requirements as specified by the manufacturer of systems and fixtures are met
- Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance are properly sized, aligned, supported and graded
- Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance meet the requirements of the appropriate codes
- Ensure all installations, repairs and maintenance meet environmental protection requirements
Qualifications:
- Ability to drive a company service truck safely at all times and to maintain a clean driving record.
- Strong analytical and problems solving skills
- Ability to make sound business decisions
- Excellent written, verbal communication, and listening skills.
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to sell services to customers in an effective and satisfactory manner; assist the customer in choosing the best service option and products and strive to win referrals and repeat business.
- Ability to maintain a clean, organized job site
- Ability to maintain a wellinventoried truck
- Honesty and trustworthiness in dealing with customers
- Demonstrate sound work ethic
- Ability to work a varying schedule depending on the company's needs; work offshift with mínimal notice if required, including holidays and weekends
- Ability to participate in training sessions and company meetings
- Accuracy and timely invoicing, timesheets other daily paperwork.

Experience/ Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required, associates and college degrees preferred.
