General Purpose:


The Vice President of Asset Protection is responsible for building, executing and continuously enhancing proactive asset protection and security strategies that protect Goodwill's assets-it's staff, customers, participants and donated goods.

The VP collaborates to create a safe and secure environment for Goodwill staff, customers and clients.

As a leader within the organization, the VP will align asset protection priorities with Goodwill's strategic priorities, work as an active and collaborative business partner to operating divisions, leads training and education initiatives across the organization to further asset protection objectives and promote honesty and integrity within the Goodwill culture.


Essential Functions:


  • Leadership_
  • Engage proactively and effectively with Senior and Executive Leadership to develop and execute strategies to increase the integrity of operations, promote adherence to policies and procedures, and create a safe and secure working environment.
  • Work collaboratively with Human Resources, Safety, Facilities, IT, and other departments as necessary to direct incident investigations in accordance with Goodwill's Investigations policy. Develop and implement 'lessons learned' recommendations to reduce the likelihood of future similar incidents.
  • Foster a strong sense of internal customer service and collaborative problem solving with effective communication of status, results and next steps as appropriate.
  • Develop and foster relationships with local law enforcement agencies.
  • Evolve Goodwill's approach to asset protection to leverage new approaches, data analytics and technologies to improve effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Design and implement strategies that positively impact shrink and maximize efficiency and value of donation sales.
  • Analyze major areas of shrink using data and information from investigations and assessments of loss prevention vulnerabilities at Goodwill site locations.
  • Develop loss prevention operations and procedures that incorporate loss prevention reporting, detection and predictive modeling.
  • Provide general consultation to drive theft deterrence, physical security, operational compliance, teammate/customer safety, site training, pointofsale controls, and emergency response.
  • Create/maintain policies for cash handling and monitor store compliance.
  • Collaborate with other departments as appropriate to develop KPI's related to shrinkage, breakage, cash shortages, and pointofsale exceptions that are regularly reviewed with executive leadership.
  • Develop and implement training programs and initiatives to combat and reduce, shrink, and enhance safety.
  • Partner with leadership in Retail, Mission Services and Human Resources to manage investigations and operational assessments and create action plans that address areas of concern.
  • Implement and maintain all loss prevention technologies: intrusion/fire alarms, CCTV systems, locks, electronic access control, secure display cases, and safes.
  • Work with Internal Audit to manage petty cash and 'near cash' audits and reporting of same.
  • Calculate ROI for asset protection investments.
  • Ensure timely delivery of all required asset protection reports to senior leadership and external entities.

Additional duties as assigned.

Scope of Responsibility & Positions Supervised:

  • VP will supervise an Asset protection team of approximately 3 people

Benchmarks:


The following benchmarks must be met as follows:

  • Timely completion of all investigations, in accordance with Goodwill's Investigations policy

Qualifications:


The following qualifications are required:


  • Requires a High School Diploma and 10 years' experience or a bachelor's degree in criminal justice or related field and 7 years' experience in a multisite organization
  • Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role in a medium to large organization
  • Driver's License required
