Overview:

As a Dietary Supervisor at our skilled nursing facility, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the nutritional needs of our residents are met with excellence.

You'll oversee all aspects of the dietary department, from meal planning and preparation to regulatory compliance and staff management. Your leadership will be instrumental in promoting a culture of health and wellness within our facility.


Responsibilities:


Menu Planning and Development:


  • Collaborate with registered dietitians to create nutritious and wellbalanced menus that meet the dietary requirements and preferences of residents.
  • Ensure menus adhere to regulatory guidelines and accommodate special dietary needs, including therapeutic diets prescribed by healthcare professionals.

Food Preparation and Service:


  • Supervise kitchen staff in the preparation, cooking, and presentation of meals.
  • Monitor food quality and portion control to maintain high standards of nutrition and satisfaction among residents.
  • Oversee meal service to ensure residents receive timely and appropriate meals according to their individualized dietary plans.

Budget Management:


  • Assist in developing and managing the dietary department budget, including procurement of food supplies, equipment, and other resources.
  • Implement costsaving measures without compromising the quality or nutritional value of meals.

Regulatory Compliance:


  • Stay abreast of federal, state, and local regulations governing food service in healthcare settings, including sanitation, food safety, and infection control.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements through regular inspections and staff training.

Staff Supervision and Training:


  • Recruit, train, and supervise dietary staff, including cooks, dietary aides, and food service workers.
  • Provide ongoing education and professional development opportunities to ensure staff competency in food handling, safety procedures, and resident interaction.

Interdisciplinary Collaboration:


  • Work closely with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, physicians, and therapists, to coordinate dietary care plans and address the nutritional needs of residents with complex medical conditions.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss resident progress and adjust dietary interventions as needed.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Nutrition, Food Service Management, or related field preferred.
  • Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) credential or willingness to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.
  • Previous experience in food service management, preferably in a healthcare or longterm care setting.
  • Strong knowledge of nutrition principles, therapeutic diets, and food safety standards.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Detailoriented with a commitment to quality and resident satisfaction.
  • Familiarity with computerized dietary management systems is a plus.
