Position Summary:


Responsible for consolidating all product demand from all sources into the schedule of factory requirements, consistent with plant capabilities and customer-requested dates.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Review picks, routings, complete bill of materials on all incoming orders. Determine any discrepancies on picks and resolve with the proper Account Manager/Client Service Specialist.
  • Cut all manufacturing work orders, including special orders, tooling, or onetime orders.
  • Schedule work through each department, considering available capacity in facilities, equipment and manpower, existing order backlog, and customer promise dates; also keeping in mind manufacturing and vendor times, as well as available inventories of finished goods, components, and raw materials.
  • Run shortage reports for all manufactured work orders.
  • Process requisitions to allow the purchase of raw materials in time to meet manufacture start dates.
  • Provide the engineering department with all custom or permanent item numbers that require engineering.
  • Provide the required organizational link between sales and operations, communicating any deviations from the original customer promise dates to sales. Notify sales department prior to adjustments being performed.
  • Setup start and finish due dates in system for all manufacturing orders and provide schedule reports as needed for sales and manufacturing operations.
  • Evaluate Work-InProcess, shop order closeouts, and production dollar reports for variation to plan and advise the Materials Manager.
  • Coordinate all production meetings and keep all appropriate personnel informed of changes.
  • Work with Account Managers on coordinating and participating in all Product Introduction Team (PIT) Meetings.
  • Confer with production personnel to resolve problems affecting production schedules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Materials Manager.

Educational Requirements / Experience

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • A minimum of five years' experience in production and inventory control systems.
  • Thorough understanding of ERP/MRP system, production floor planning, bill of material, and router setup.
  • Proficiency with Excel.
  • Familiarity with Lean concepts.
  • A handson, selfstarter with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to perform diversified work of a technical or statistical nature, requiring the use of judgment, independent thinking, and interpretation of facts, but using established general procedures as a guideline.
  • Highlevel accuracy and attention to detail is always imperative.
  • Ability to maintain harmonious relationships when dealing with other people, departments, customers, etc.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business reports, technical procedures, blueprints, and process instruction manuals. Ability to write reports and business correspondence.


  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, and customers.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, margins area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
