Description
We are hiring an experienced and energetic Mechanical Estimator to join our Special Projects team in the Richmond area.As a Mechanical Estimator, you will support our Central Virginia team which focuses on mechanical systems in commercial buildings (i.e., hospitals, high-rises, government facilities, data centers, and universities).

What you will do:
- Prepare cost estimates for HVAC, sheet metal duct systems, plumbing and piping systems
- Account for labor, material, equipment, subcontractors, and other direct costs within estimates
- Review plans and specifications to determine the scope of work
- Prepare and augment drawings
- Takeoff material and provide accurate quantity surveys. Adjust labor production factors based on the degree of difficulty
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure accurate and competitive pricing
- Prepare conceptual estimates to support budget proposals
- Develop value engineering options that reduce costs and enhance the quality of work performed
- Support sales team and other department personnel as needed
What we are looking for:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred, not required)
- Possess analytical and problemsolving skills to resolve complex engineering problems
- Ability to manage customer relationships, perceptions and expectations
- Ability to deal diplomatically and work professionally with a variety of people (i.e., managers, owners, project managers, field leadership, vendors, and tradespeople)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Creative thinker and attentive to details
- Tech savvy, proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Ability to work independently and with mínimal supervision
- Capable of maintaining a high energy level to handle our dynamic, fastpaced workload
- Willing and able to work from our corporate office and job sites
