***: Under the general guidance of the Director of Public Relations, this position will assist with multiple facets of marketing and communications efforts surrounding the annual Wisconsin State Fair, Hy-Vee Milwaukee Mile 250s, and Harvest Fair.

  • The position may also be considered an internship for current students who are interested.

EMPLOYMENT TYPE:


This position is an unclassified, Limited Term Employment (LTE) position within the State of Wisconsin employment system, working an average of 20 hours per week throughout the calendar year.

Annual hours worked in this position will not exceed 1039 hours.

COMPENSATION:

The starting wage for this role will be $15 to $16 per hour, based on qualifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • Assist Social Media and Public Relations Coordinator with the execution of radio promotions, including ticket orders and supervising onsite presence
  • Assist in response to concerns, compliments, and general questions on social media platforms through our social media management tool, AgoraPulse
  • Work with the Social Media and Public Relations Coordinator to create and follow processes and procedures to ensure inquiries on social media platforms are being addressed in a timely manner and without overlap
  • Assist Marketing and Communications team in creating comprehensive recaps and reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Assist Marketing and Communications team with coordination of media interviews and onstie media placements
  • Assist in fulfilling media requests, including factchecking, photography needs, as well as ticket and credential requests prior to the Wisconsin State Fair and other events
  • Assist Marketing and Communications team with realtime social media content during the annual Wisconsin State Fair, Hy-Vee Milwaukee Mile 250s, and Harvest Fair
  • Conduct biweekly website audits of four agency websites identifying opportunities for copy, imagery, and content edits
  • Adhere to Marketing and Communications content calendar
  • Contribute to list of photography assets needed for yearround State Fair Park marketing efforts including Milwaukee Mile; take photos as needed with marketing and advertising needs in mind
  • Contribute to annual list of photography assets needed for State Fair marketing efforts; take photos as needed with marketing and advertising needs in mind
  • Stay wellversed on everchanging marketing trends, especially in the event and tourism industries

QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Entry level or 1year of marketing related experience
  • Highly developed writing, editing, and proofing skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication skills
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office Programs, including Word, Outlook, and Excel
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to summarize and effectively communicate results
  • Event planning and execution experience a definite plus
  • Ability to withstand an everchanging, fastpaced environment, remain calm under pressure and maintain a positive, cando attitude
  • Ability to work extended hours, including nights and weekends, at times leading up to and during the Wisconsin State Fair
  • Organizational social media experience, knowledge of WordPress or other CMS and graphic design program knowledge is a plus
