DESCRIPTION:


Under general direction of the Director, Security Services, responsible for the full range of management and operations functions of UCSD Health Security Services at Hillcrest/La Jolla/East Campus Medical Centers to promote a safe and secure environment for the UCSD Health and Health Sciences community.

Provides leadership and ensures compliance with quality service goals, service standards, and security policies and procedures to ensure the effective and efficient operations of the security management program.

Contributes as a key member of the UCSD Health Threat Assessment and Management Committee. Responsible for participation in the Emergency Preparedness Program meetings and drill planning.


Responsible for maintaining both Joint Commission and California Department of Public Health code compliance, to include but not limited to documentation, personnel and training files, and any corrective action plans related to regulatory findings.

Reviews and responds to Security related iReports in a timely manner and provides disposition or recommended solutions to the reported problem.

In the absence of the Director, the Security Manager will act as the Director of Security Services.

Participates in long range strategic planning and makes recommendations on how to improve the quality of service to our internal and external customers.

Responsible for departmental budget planning and monitoring. Performs other Security Manager related functions as required by the Director. Manages the Security Program including administrative and budget operations. Focuses on organizing and delegating to team in order to achieve objectives.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Eleven (11) years of related management experience in a large, complex healthcare environment, academic institution, or police or security services role, education/training, OR a Bachelor's degree in a related area plus seven (7) years of related experience/training.
  • Ability to supervise, direct, manage, train, and evaluate employees.
  • Knowledge of financial management responsibilities related to all department functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to work equitably with others and build solid working relationships with both internal and external staff.
  • Knowledge of Joint Commission requirements related to security.
  • Knowledge of Security Management Plans for Health Systems.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Knowledge of supervisory, management, administrative, and command leadership principles.
  • Knowledge of department, personnel, and systemwide security policies and procedures.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:


  • Knowledge of labor issues and other employee development and disciplinary practices at UC.
  • Training certifications in a securityrelated field: Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI), Taser, Work Place Violence (WPV), etc.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:


  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.

Annual Full Pay Range:
$91,300 - $170,700 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)


Hourly Equivalent:
$ $81.75
