***: To assist in the operations of all GISCC facilities, systems and grounds as well as agency-wide environment safety, as to meet the facility needs of GISCC. Responsibilities include maintenance responsibilities and repairing physical structures and utility systems of buildings at all of the organization's sites.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Position may perform some or all of the duties described below):

  • Performs a wide variety of general and semiskilled maintenance activities (e.g. carpentry, painting, electrical, etc.) for the purpose of completing projects within established time frames. This includes, but is not limited to, routine maintenance, such as inspecting and replacing filters, or doing other preventive maintenance actions.
  • Inspecting equipment, structures, or materials to diagnose mechanical problems and determine how to correct them.
  • Upon inspection and diagnosis, repairs furniture and building system components for the purpose of ensuring safe working conditions.
  • Prepares written materials (e.g. repair status, activity logs, Job Safety Activity logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and/or conveying information.
  • Responds to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • Use of a variety of tools, equipment and supplies ensuring the availability of materials required at job site in order to repair machines, equipment, or structures. Tools commonly used might include, but not be limited to, hammers, saws, drills, wrenches, or equipment such as precision measuring instruments or electrical or electronic testing devices.
  • Assist Facility Manager in gathering information for estimating costs to repair machinery, equipment, or building structures.
  • Perform general cleaning duties of buildings, properties, and equipment, parts, and tools as they pertain to preventative maintenance, repair of defects or wear and tear. Cleans buildings and grounds areas as needed and/or assigned for the purpose of providing an effective working/learning environment, preventing damage and/or limiting liability exposure. Working knowledge of maintenance operations, purchasing, janitorial, and grounds maintenance.
  • Maintains company vehicles, tools and equipment for the purpose of ensuring availability in safe operating condition.
  • Knowledge of facilities layout including location of vital equipment such as power cut off, water and gas shut off.
  • Participates in meetings, workshops, trainings, and seminars for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions. Responsible to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Follow safety policies and procedures ensuring safe work conditions at all times. Assists Safety Manager with follow up on facility related concerns.
