The Opportunity:


Donut Media is looking to hire a dynamic Director, to direct videos and series for Donut's main YouTube channel and own videos from ideation to development, scripting, filming, post production and release.

This person will be the company's go-to person for all creative matters on their slate of videos. This full-time role is in-person based in Donut's Inglewood, California headquarters and reports into the Head of Creative. Some travel is required.


The Responsibilities:

Responsibilities to include, but not limited to**:

  • Work closely with Head of Creative, Creative Director, Development Manager, VP of Production and Producers to manage the creative process for a slate of videos including developing and pitching ideas, drafting outlines, writing and overseeing scripts, working with writers and researchers, collaborating with cast members and securing greenlight for production
  • Collaborate with the development team to develop creative across a slate of videos or format, and understanding the content strategy's needs of the creative
  • Recruit and manage freelance writers, researchers and other creative support as needed working with production to paper deals and managing their output for your projects
  • Work hand in hand with production, communicating crew, gear, vehicles, locations, and other needs in a timely manner and ensuring they are set up to successfully produce the video
  • Direct talent and crew instudio and onlocation guiding their oncamera performances, ensuring they deliver what is needed for the edit, capturing broll audio, and thumbnails and making the shoot a professional and efficient experience for everyone involved
  • Oversee creative editing of videos, debriefing with editors after shoots, providing timely notes on cuts, capturing additional footage and VO and overall being a collaborative and responsive partner to post production
  • Review video performance and data sharing actionable feedback for improvement, documenting what works and what didn't and focusing on a process of continuous improvement
Qualifications & Skills

  • Must love cars and have extensive knowledge of cars, car maintenance, and automotive culture
  • 6+ years of experience working in a directing, development, or creative production role in Digital/YouTube
  • Ability to work in a demanding, high pressure and time sensitive environment
  • Ability to interact and communicate effectively with creatives, talent, directors, and production
  • Experience with project management software such as Trello, Monday, Asana, or AirTable
  • Strong capability to multitask and prioritize multiple demands
