Huntsman is seeking an Americas Logistics Manager supporting the Polyurethanes Division located in The Woodlands, Texas. This position will report to the Supply Chain Director.
Job Scope
The Americas Logistics Manager is a member of the Global Logistics team and the Americas Supply Chain Management Team.
Locally, the Logistics Manager provides for the management, processes, facilities, services and equipment necessary to ensure efficient and safe delivery of site finished products in all modes and quantities to our customers domestically and internationally.
This position will include, but not limited to the following activities:- Department management, organization, control and salary administration. Develop Logistics team members and hold accountable for performance and contributions.
- Responsible for distribution spend for the Americas.
- Optimize distribution spend in support of commercial activities sourced from the Americas.
- Responsible for DOT regulatory compliance of product shipments by both business partners via all modes of transportation.
- Develop and implement cost improvement initiatives as related to Logistics to generate added value to the organization.
- Develop and implement innovative programs to improve OTIF and carrier performance.
- Manage and coordinate EHS audits and support product stewardship for freight and distribution service providers as well as to customers as required and requested by the commercial teams.
- Manage and leverage all HPU 3rd parties (bulk, package carriers, transload / warehouse / distribution locations).
- Drive quality performance and accountability as it relates to Logistics activities (OTIF, customer corrective action programs, product stewardship).
- Embed Transportation Management Software solution to enhance logistics execution and spend performance.
Relationships:
The Logistics Manager will be a liaison between Huntsman Corporate, Huntsman Commercial and Lanxess Purchasing, Logistics, S&OP, Regional Supply Chain Teams, EHS Departments, customers, and employees in communicating pertinent information accurately and expeditiously to operate the department/business efficiently and effectively.
The incumbent will also develop employee relations, building trust and earning respect by recognizing employee talents/contributions and demonstrating an attitude of impartiality and consideration.
Participation, as appropriate, in trade and industry associations to maintain knowledge of current practices.
The incumbent must maintain effective and timely communications between cross-functional roles within Finance, Commercial, Supply Chain, Technical, Production, Shared Services, QA, and Product Development.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a technical, supply chain, or business field
- 10+ years in Logistics, with proven supervisory experience preferred.
Know How:
Technical
The incumbent must possess a working knowledge of SAP Atlas, Lotus Notes, workflow databases, GMIS, HPU Intranet, Web forms, OMP, HSIMS and the
Microsoft Office Suite:
Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and Power Point.
Skill in preparing economic and feasibility studies for domestic and international distribution to ensure best value and innovative routes to market are utilized.
He/She will need to work with the IT support teams during system enhancements, lending them assistance in the testing phase of implementation.
The incumbent will need to stay abreast of current IT Systems and ongoing changes in technology. All aspects of this job require a unique combination of technical skills and business knowledge. Heavy technical expertise and a good capacity for learning are essential. A general understanding of chemical manufacturing and a working knowledge of production capabilities is essential.Business
This function requires a person with a significant understanding of Supply Chain, along with logistics, purchasing, marketing, and engineering processes.
