- Assembles prototype sensors, instruments and/or systems according to instructions from engineering.
- Conducts qualification testing of products and creates reports.
- Provides feedback/recommendations on new product design and assembly.
- Supports manufacturing engineering in the transition of the product into production (e.g., for the design of fixtures or procedures)
- Maintains metrology (e.g., calibrations) for the Engineering Lab.
- Supports production during peak demands.
- Participates in continuous improvement by proposing new equipment, processes, training, etc. for the Engineering Lab
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma required; Associates degree in a technical field; or equivalent education, training, and experience.
- Minimum 3 years' experience in the assembly, testing, and troubleshooting of measurement instruments and electronic devices.
- Basic understanding of the operation of electrical circuits and components.
- Ability to use and working knowledge of various test equipment such as spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, voltmeters, etc.
- Proficiency in word and excel.
- Detail oriented
- Piezo-electric/ piezo-resistive experience is a plus.
- Experience with Accelerometers and/or Pressure transducers a plus.
- Ability to read schematics and mechanical assembly drawings, and product definitions.
- Good communication skills.
- Strong critical problem-solving skills.
- Experience in problem identification and corrective action.
- Ability to interact with other functional departments.
- Physical Demands: The role necessitates the capacity to spend prolonged periods either seated at a desk or stationed at a workbench, utilizing a microscope extensively. Approximately 10% of the workday may involve alternating between sitting and standing. Moreover, intricate parts will be handled manually, requiring manual dexterity for approximately 50% of the workday. While infrequent, the role may also involve lifting objects weighing up to 50 lbs., with lifting occurring on an infrequent basis.

Purpose of the position:
The Engineering Laboratory Technician is responsible for assembling, testing, and troubleshooting small-sized prototype instruments and devices (e.g., accelerometers or pressure transducers).
