Intermediate Network Technician
This is a
CONTRACT POSITION for our client in the oil and gas industry and is located
DOWNTOWN Houston, TX.
- Considered a fully functional network administrator.
- Second point of escalation for issues that cannot be resolved by junior network administrators.
- Helps support junior network administrative staff in managing challenging stakeholder relationships and as an end to end understand of the client's business needs and processes.
- Ensure that the junior network team is resolving network related escalated incidents in a timely and efficient manner.
This role works closely with the IT operations team to ensure the availability, security, and performance of critical network systems and services.
The Network Operations Analyst proactively identifies and resolves network-related issues to minimize disruptions and maintain service level agreements.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitor network performance, bandwidth utilization, and event logs to identify potential problems.
- Perform regular maintenance tasks such as software updates, security patching, and backups on network devices.
- Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and softwarerelated issues on routers, switches, firewalls, and other network equipment.
- Maintain accurate network inventory records and asset management information.
- Analyze network metrics and trends to identify optimization opportunities and make recommendations.
- Provide oncall support and afterhours incident response as needed.
- Participate in the design and implementation of new network architectures and technologies.
- Assist in the development of networkrelated policies, standards, and best practices.
Education:
Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
Experience:
3-5 years of experience in network administration, operations, or IT support roles. In-depth knowledge of network hardware, protocols, and technologies (e.g. LAN, WAN, switching, routing)
- Proficient in administering and troubleshooting common enterprise network services and security solutions.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills to identify and resolve complex technical issues. Experience with network monitoring, automation, and scripting tools (e.g. Cisco, Wireshark, Python).
- Understanding of server, storage, and IT security best practices as they relate to network infrastructure.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to document procedures and collaborate with crossfunctional teams.
- Certification in networkrelated technologies (e.g. Cisco, CompTIA) is preferred.
- Ability to work effectively in a fastpaced, 24/7 IT operations environment
