Job Summary

This position is responsible for the coordination of the screening and approval process for all conflicts and new business intake throughout the Firm.

This role will oversee the completion of conflicts reports and will maintain the integrity of the firm's conflicts and client matter databases through accurate and timely data entry.

Essential Functions

  • Perform daily research and analysis for new matters and lateral attorney hires.
  • Analyze Conflicts of Interest search results for communication among concerned parties, providing a comprehensive summary of relative historical data.
  • Review of all requests for new matters for compliance with the Rules of Professional Conduct relating to Conflict of Interest as provided by the North/South Carolina Bar Association.
  • Effective interaction with attorneys and firm personnel of all levels, providing requested services while exercising courtesy and diplomacy.
  • Record and maintain all relative information to the Conflicts of Interest database.
  • Upon review of all analyses, opens each new matter firmwide with the exception of matters containing extraordinary circumstances which require approval of the General Counsel.
  • Perform Conflict of Interest investigations on potential attorney and staff new hires as requested.
  • Provide conflicts training of new personnel.
  • Leverage document management software and tools to enhance process efficiency
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:


  • Associate Degree in business, paralegal studies, or related field and at least two years of related experience, or equivalent combination required.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously without error, set priorities, and accommodate rush requests.
  • Knowledge of legal terms and legal matters to determine whether forms submitted include all required related parties.
  • Possess a high level of ethical and professional responsibility and superior judgment in handling confidential information.
  • Strong ability to learn new technologies, processes, and workflows as needed.
  • Superior communication and customer service skills exercising courtesy and diplomacy.
  • Proficiency in the use of conflicts software with direct knowledge of either Elegrity/iManage or inTapp software preferred, Elite3E and Microsoft Office Suite.
