    + Role Overview

    The Chief of Strategic Communications oversees all external communications for MxD, shaping primary messaging for stakeholders, partners, and key audiences. This position functions as the lead communications strategist for the organization, providing counsel to the CEO and Senior Leadership Team on relevant matters. Reporting to the Vice President of Membership and External Relations, the role involves frequent collaboration with the Directors of Membership and Engagement, Business Development, and Government Engagement.

    + Key Responsibilities
    • Devising and implementing comprehensive strategic communications strategies for MxD across various channels
    • Supervising content creation strategies encompassing website and social media content, articles, videos, and other formats
    • Managing the media relations process, including press release review, interview requests assessment, and spokesperson preparation
    • Owning MxD's online presence across platforms like the website, social media, and newsletters
    • Driving the evaluation and support of MxD event participation, including public speaking opportunities
    • Ensuring quality and consistency of external deliverables from the organization
    • Supporting MxD's convening and programming activities
    • Providing counsel to the CEO and Senior Leadership Team on crisis communications
    • Establishing and monitoring metrics for audience acquisition, engagement, and impressions to gauge success
    • Leading a team of communications professionals and contract support, guiding them in goal setting and professional growth
    • Tracking industry trends and competitive landscape to enhance MxD's positioning to key audiences
    + Qualifications
    • Hold a degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related field; advanced degrees are preferred
    • Possess at least 10 years of experience in Communications, Marketing, or Public Relations, with a minimum of 5 years in team management
    • Demonstrate outstanding communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills
    • Exhibit strong writing and editing capabilities
    • Have experience in website, newsletter, and social media management
    • Familiarity with crisis communications and handling sensitive topics with discretion
    • Understanding of graphic design principles
    • Ability to engage effectively with MxD's executive leadership and external partners
    • Show innovation and creativity in storytelling and promotional activities
    • Be adaptable to dynamic work environments and willing to travel occasionally
