Molding Technician - Plastic Injection
Grand Rapids, Michigan

Afternoons: 3 pm to 11 pm, OT as necessary
Nights: 11 pm to 7 am, OT as necessary


Summary:

This role oversees the operations and team members of the designated work area and machine, working directly with the shift supervisor and in collaboration with the Plant Manager.

This facility is maintained at a controlled climate.



Essential Responsibilities:


  • Molding Technician will lead the assigned work area and injection molding machine operators, providing guidance, coordinating activities, and assigning tasks.
  • Ensure correct setup of work area before manufacturing begins.
  • Manage process setup and job startup.
  • Verify molding profiles, conduct process verifications, troubleshoot, and make necessary process adjustments to ensure high-quality output.
  • Complete production orders for designated areas promptly under the direction of the shift supervisor.
  • Aid in problem-solving for customer or internal issues.
  • Issue tooling and maintenance work orders via Plex.
  • Communicate with the Tooling Engineer for molding profile documentation or modifications.
  • Enhance cycle times and minimize scrap and downtime.
  • Organize operator breaks schedules and conduct first and last shot inspections.
  • Ensure proper material identification and inspect products as per specifications, notifying the supervisor of deviations.
  • Uphold 5S standards and submit shift reports in the absence of the supervisor.
  • Adhere to safety regulations and perform any assigned tasks directed by management.

Key Requirements:

  • Technical proficiency in setting up and operating plastic injection molding machines.
  • Ability to perform all assigned tasks effectively.
  • Minimum of 1-2 years of relevant experience.
  • Understanding of various plastics and their molding traits.
  • Capability to troubleshoot technical issues in injection molding processes.
  • Attention to detail and dedication to producing top-quality items.
  • Ability to acquire Hilo and crane licenses.
  • Familiarity with safety protocols and willingness to follow guidelines.
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. at a minimum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preference for an Associate degree in a technical field.
  • National Career Readiness certificate is a plus.
  • Experience with RJG or decoupled molding is preferred.

$28.00 per hour
