Description

The Town of Waterford is looking for part-time Lifeguards to insure safe swimming conditions and conduct both in and around the swimming area.

To provide ARC standard Lifeguard Procedures, ARC First Aid and/or ARC CPR during emergency situations.


EXAMPLE OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


  • To enforce rules and regulations, concerning safe and orderly swimming conduct in and around swim area.
  • To provide emergency water safety rescue procedures when necessary.
  • To provide Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation when necessary.
  • To operate a resuscitator when necessary.
  • To provide ARC Standard First Aid, when necessary.
  • To count the number of people in the water as required.
  • Do other related duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
(Knowledge, Skill, Ability)


Must have knowledge of the rules and regulations and be able to explain the reasons for such to the general public.

Considerable ability to establish and maintain effective and courteous working relationships with Town Officials, public officials, residents, general public, other departments and agencies, and workers.

Ability to deal effectively with individuals with disabilities in a sensitive and caring manner. Must be able to follow directions promptly. Must enforce safe swimming practices. Must have public relations ability. Must have knowledge to anticipate situations.


EDUCATION AND TRAINING:


Must have successfully completed the following American Red Cross courses and have had the necessary refresher courses as necessary, i.e.

ARC life Guarding, ARC Standard First Aid and Infant, and Child and Adult CPR.
