- Reviewing plans specifications and Documentation: Understand project requirements before fieldwork; accurately record observations and testing results related to construction materials.
- Utilizing Metafield: Utilize field and laboratory information management systems efficiently for data organization.
- Equipment: Maintain accuracy of field and laboratory tools to meet industry standards.
- Special Inspection observations: Adhere to International Building Code (IBC) standards for testing and inspecting construction materials.
- Communicate with stakeholders: Engage with management, contractors, and clients to relay project progress and address concerns.
- A high school diploma/GED
- 0-2 years of experience in construction testing/inspections of soil, concrete, masonry, and/or asphalt materials
- Effective communication skills (speaking, reading, and writing) using the English language
- Math skills with a basic understanding of weight, volume, pressure, and units of measure
- The ability to complete data entry into multiple software applications on a smart device
- One or more active certifications, a plus: American Concrete Institute (ACI): Field Testing Grade I; Strength Testing Technician; Laboratory Technician International Code Council (ICC): Special Inspector (Reinforced Concrete, Masonry, Soils) DOT Certifications in the fields of Aggregate, Conventional Density, Asphalt, and Concrete
- Working outdoors the majority of the time in varying weather conditions
- Walking over rough and uneven terrain
- Standing up to 8 hours a day, up to 12 hours on occasion
- Routinely lifting and carrying 40-50lbs, (field/laboratory samples and equipment)
- Maneuver field equipment safely, such as a loaded wheelbarrow, on uneven ground and around active construction sites
- Traveling out-of-town (typically overnight) for assignments as necessary
- Working outside of normal business hours when necessary
