Description
MissionTechnician II must be able to diagnose, troubleshoot and repair all vehicles and equipment in service with minimal supervision.The Tech II is accountable to the Asheville Redefines Transit Maintenance Manager.
Should the technician be selected as an instructor, they must be able to teach Tedchnician III's as time permits some repair techniques that are not routine in nature.
The Technician II must demonstrate mechanical proficiency and monitoring capabilities. The Technician II must posses a CDL license with air brakes and a passanger endorsement.All newly hired Technician II (post ratification) must posses 609 airconditioing certifications and at least three H or T series ASE certifications of which two must include H2, T2, T4 or H4 within six months of hire.
ProfilePerforms vehicle maintenance to company standards. Inspects, diagnoses, and performs accurately all phases of vehicle and equipment repair to RATP DEV standards.Removes, cleans, repairs, reinstalls, and adjusts vehicle components (Engine Emission Components, Driveline Components, Transmissions Electrical/Electronic Components, HVAC, Brakes/Suspension/Steering/Exhaust, Cab/Chassis, Hydraulics, ADA equipment, Tires and other bus and body accessories, etc.).
Ensures work orders are completed properly and accurately. Selects appropriate course of action for repairs. Evaluates completed work prior to release - seeks supervisor approval where required. Ensures safe use of power and hand-held tools. Operates a forklift. Performs road calls, on the road testing and emergency services as necessary. Moves vehicles safely between job and work area. Communicates professionally with customers, team members, and supervisors. Actively participates in safety or educational training as required. Due to nature and needs of business, ALL mechanics may be required to perform duties outside of their classification.Preferred Key Competencies:
Ability to communicate in writing and verbally with superiors, peers and subordinates, as well as customers. Ability to input data efficiently in maintenance related software. Ability to work flexible and varied work schedules, including late night, early morning, weekends, snow days, etc.
Performance may be measured by the degree to which all equipment and property is functioning in a safe and efficient manner.
Performance may be measured by the maintenance of a safe and clean work environment and by the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date records of all main Skills CDL A or B Passenger Endorsement
