    We are looking for a Phlebotomy Technician to join our team of devoted caregivers. Within this role, you will be collecting blood samples from our inpatient and outpatient communities.


    Your primary duties will include:
    Performing specimen processing and sending out tasks for all specimen types. Picking up and delivering blood, other sample types, and lab supplies to appropriate areas. Communicating information to the correct personnel. Greeting customers and providing a positive patient service experience. Following venipuncture procedures and maintain appropriate log sheets.

    The ideal future caregiver is someone who:
    Currently is certified as a Formal Phlebotomist. Comes to work with a willingness to learn and grow. Works positively in a close-knit, team-building environment. Provides empathetic and patient-centered care.

    Caregivers in this position will have opportunities to learn inpatient, outpatient, and central processing roles; while also having opportunities to take open roles for processing techs and team leads within the organization.

    Responsibilities:
    Collects blood, processes specimen, and performs reference laboratory processing.

    Proficient in blood collection from patients of all age groups and performs related techniques including glucose tolerance tests and blood cultures.

    Prepares samples for testing and manages specimen in the laboratory information system.
    Prepares and ships reference laboratory specimens and resolves pending specimens and pending transports.
    Monitors test ordering patterns and requisitions to ensure compliance with outpatient laboratory testing.
    Other duties as assigned.


    Education:
    High School Degree/Equivalent

    Preferred:
    One year college or equivalent preferred

    Certifications:
    American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) plexity of Work:

    Work Experience:
    At least six (6) months experience in phlebotomy and laboratory processing preferred

    Physical Requirements:
    This position is primarily mobile in nature.
    The average amount of lifting is 10 pounds with occasional carrying of objects up to 20 pounds.

    Sitting for short periods of time, the ability to file, move records, laboratory supplies, perform venipuncture, and move charts also requires bending and munication by means of the spoken, written and typed word is required.

    Work requires finger dexterity and eye hand coordination to operate a computer keyboard at a moderate skill level.


    Mental Demands:
    Ability to work at a fast pace and to prioritize multiple assignments/projects and respond to numerous requests; ability to resolve conflicts among staff and to work collaboratively with department director, physicians and other members of the healthcare team; ability to ensure operational efficiency; ability to problem solve and make decisions; ability to exercise self-control and tolerate stress when dealing with multiple requests and/or conflicting demands from multiple customers

    Special Demands:
    Use of personal protective equipment is required as there is a potential for exposure to biohazardous or infectious agents when drawing and processing specimens

    Confidentiality:

    The employee has access to the entire medical record for the purpose of charting and correcting laboratory results AND review of physician orders.

    The access is limited to the amount reasonably necessary to achieve the purpose of the laboratory testing request.
    The disclosure or requests that occur on a routine or recurring basis include patient demographics, condition and laboratory results.
